FEBRUARY 2018: AFTER CYCLONE CLEANING OF HYDRO STATION

Mauritius is well known for its intense cyclonic seasons, from the month of December to March, the warm and humid weather creates perfect condition for big storms and cyclones. Hydro stations have been suffering from this situation for a long time, as major debris (mainly trees, wood logs, and other garbage) were found clogging the filtration grid. The hydro station workers tried to remove the obstructions but could not due to harsh environment.

The manager contacted our dive team to help them clearing the grid. Immersub proposed a dive plan to remove the debris and unblock the filtration grid. With almost zero visibility, the team managed to identify major obstructions despite the poor visibility. 3 commercial divers were mobilized to help retrieving the debris for ashore disposal.
