Since the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent travel restrictions, it has been almost impossible for Class Surveyors to attend Underwater Inspection In-Lieu of Dry Docking. In order to continue providing this service at Port Louis, Immersub worked in collaboration with Class to find the best solution to conduct a remote survey with live streaming for the surveyors.
The first UWILD has been conducted on a Cape size bulk carrier, and the surveyor was able to attend the survey remotely, exchange with the dive supervisor and guide the diver underwater during the survey. Since this successful operation, Immersub has completed more than 15 Class Approved Remote UWILD for 5 different International Class Societies.
